My name is Edwin Camacho. I am a Real Estate Agent.

I am a 3rd generation American Citizen, born and raised in the Spanish speaking US Island of Puerto Rico, which explains my accent.

I moved to UT 11 years ago. I am married and have a 15 year old daughter. Our family fell in love with Eagle Mountain in early 2005 and moved into the city in July of 2006.

I have been interested in politics since I was a little boy and as an adult I was directly involved in running political campaigns back in Puerto Rico.

I am running for City Council because I believe that a strong and honest desire to serve is not enough. This city needs 3 new City Council Members that understand that our city’s success is interconnected and impacted by developers, builders, farmers, local businesses, corporations, government and certainly you as citizens.

We need to live and work together. We need to smooth out the rough edges and understand how our livelihood is linked together. Only then can we move forward; leaving behind misunderstandings, misgivings, and inappropriate decisions and/or actions.

I think my Real Estate Industry knowledge, especially its laws and regulations, would be an asset to the Council.

It was suggested that I tell you why you should vote for me. I don’t know that you should. That is for YOU to decide.

I do not believe that listening to us for 2-3 minutes is going to give you enough information to make an informed decision.

A campaign is nothing more or less than a job interview. Everyone is putting their best foot forward in order to get the job. The employer is YOU.

What makes any of us the right candidate?

Is it the promises to do this or that once in office, not really knowing whether we will be able to follow through?

Only after elected by having access to additional knowledge and information; facing limitations and opposition… will we know.

I am not here to make you any promises… other than I will do my very best;

…that I will acknowledge, research and work on issues that fall under the City Council’s umbrella;

…that I will focus on the future, anticipating needs that will need to be met in order for a growing community to be successful;

…that I will work hard and serve my time as a Council member honorably;

…that I will look out for the benefit of our citizens. For the simple reason that I am also one of you… and because this is also my home, my neighborhood, my community. I can think of no better reason to run for office!
